Assessment first. Design second.

Every cover-up starts with the existing tattoo: how dark it is, how big it is and where the heaviest ink sits. That decides which designs can hide it.

Sometimes a full cover is not the best option. Reworking — keeping and improving parts of the old tattoo — or refreshing faded lines can give a cleaner result.

Very dark or dense tattoos may need a few sessions of laser lightening first. We will tell you if that is the case before you commit.

Clear photo

Natural light, no filter, with something for scale.

Realistic expectations

Cover-ups work best with darker, textured designs at a larger size.

Rework option

Keep what you like, fix what you don't.

Questions about Cover-up & rework

Cover-up & rework

Most can, but the new design usually needs to be larger and darker. Very dark or dense tattoos may need laser lightening first.

Rarely. Fine lines cannot hide existing ink. A light, faded tattoo might allow lighter work — send a photo and we will advise.

A sharp photo in natural light, a photo with a coin or ruler for scale, and the ideas you like for the new design.
