Tattoo
aftercare.

A new tattoo's surface usually heals in 2–3 weeks and fully settles in about 1–3 months. In Malaysia's heat and humidity, keep it clean, lightly moisturised, out of the sun and away from pools and heavy sweating for the first two weeks.

Day 1–3

  • CoveringFollow the covering your artist used — usually a protective film, removed as instructed.
  • WashingWash gently with clean hands, lukewarm water and mild unscented soap. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.
  • MoisturisingApply a very thin layer of the recommended aftercare cream. Too much traps heat and moisture.

Day 4–14

  • Peeling and itchingNormal. Do not pick, scratch or peel — let flakes fall on their own.
  • SweatAvoid heavy workouts and long periods outdoors in the heat. Rinse sweat off gently.
  • WaterNo swimming pools, sea or long baths. Short showers are fine.
  • SunKeep it covered with loose clothing. No sunscreen until the skin has closed.

After healing

Once fully healed, use sunscreen on the tattoo whenever it is exposed. UV is the main reason fine lines fade early in a tropical climate.

Fine line and single needle pieces can be assessed for a touch-up once healed.

When to contact us or a doctor

Some redness and tenderness in the first days is normal. If redness spreads, the area becomes hot and swollen, or you develop a fever, see a doctor and let us know.
